The Convention did ya watch???

I have been passionate about politics since I was 14 years old. I loved loved loved politics. I have been to a couple of inaugurations and so on. Even held public office and so there you have it, politics I love... I cannot watch the Democratic convention. I am not sure if its because I am still irked they didn't count Florida delegates, but I think they are the pits... Or is it because I am a Republican?

I feel this way, let me know when the Rock Stars are going to appear, then I will break away from the Soap Network and watch.

The VP was announced...

I am a middle of the road kind of person. I vote the way I think, one issue at a time. For being a former politician I am told I am "dangerous". I do not vote a straight party line, sorry can't do it. And by can't I mean WON'T. But back to the VP issue. If Obama would have picked Hillary I would support him, even though I dig John McCain. Because I dig the sax man (Bill Clinton) more. And let's face it, if former Clinton is involved, we are back in the saddle. But Obama screwed up big time. Not that Biden isn't something of an icon, because let's face it since I was 7 years old he has been in office. Hmm... since 1972 he couldn't find a real job? OK, that was a cheap shot, and especially from a girl like me that overlooks Ted Kennedy's many flaws... If it weren't Hillary, it should have been Gov Rendell from PA. Sorry but it's true...

So John McCain, you have my vote and support, which in the big scheme of things means, I will donate the appropriate amount of money, volunteer and yes remain a republican until the next election.

By the way, who has a name spell check cannot address??? I have several misspellings because of the word Obama. Not likely it will be added to any of my personal dictionaries.

Hillary in 2012.

TGIF yeahhh

I am so glad it's Friday, except I have to work this weekend. I don't actually "have" to, but I want to so I am not so far behind in my work. Because my engagement party is going to take a lot of planning and I want to be all caught up at work and be ready for it.

So tonight it's family fun night. We are having pizza from my favorite spot and playing Wii for a while... What a guy!!! I am really lucky.

The week flew sorry for being gone..

With Fay the Hurricane, Tropical Storm or whatever she was, it was hectic to say the least. I have a nervous nelly in my office it was quite fun. The weather really danced around and landed no where near me, but the preparations were overwhelming. As it came to a close I breathed a sigh of relief.

But I have a few other things getting ready to take it's place in occupancy land... I am planning my engagement party. That's right I am getting married. To a very nice man who laughs at my jokes, or at me, I am not sure which...

But planning this party has been interesting. Finding the location, which state, when, who, when, and who... It's a merry-go-round for sure. Did I mention it's a merry go-round??? Anyway, plenty of tidbits will come from this and I hope it will fill you with warmth...

I made the Chicken in yogurt and panko crumbs

I was going to post a picture, but it wasn't a pleasant sight. I forgot to cover the chicken until over half way through.

So here is what I used and how my recipe went;

I had a big group to feed, ok a few seriously hungry guys and me.

12 chicken legs, 6 chicken thighs.
Plain Yogurt 2.5 cups
an 8 oz box of Panko Bread Crumbs
Garlic
Lemon Juice
Parsley

I first breaded the 6 legs and the 6 thighs and noticed how little I had left in the panko crumbs, so I quickly searched my closet for other bread crumbs and could only find Cheddar Cheese Frenches Onions. I had about a half of can. I quickly crunched up those and began dipping the last 6 legs.

I put the chicken on 2 baking pans and I stuck them in the brand new oven at 375 degrees and baked them just about 55 minutes. I did cover them at the 35 minute mark.

The chicken was so moist and tasty, but personally I liked the cheddar cheese one better. The coating was crispy and it wasn't as sweet. I am going to try this again following the COMPLETE directions. (covering it with foil until the last 15 minutes).

I served this with potato salad, Ceaser salad and corn on the cob.

Gloomy in Florida right now...

The Hurricane warnings are out. Hurricane Fay might become a Hurricane and affect our area. This does not sit well with me, I have a ton of work to do, and I need to have electricity thank you very much. I am going through the freezer right now getting ready to cook up a few things so we can have them in case we are without electricity.

One recipe I am trying today for the first time is the Pioneer Womans Chicken legs. www.thepioneerwoman.com. Using panko bread crumbs and yogurt, it looks really good and I think my gang will like it... I will let you know how it turns out.

Back in the swing of things...

I am in a baking mood. I am going to make my family recipe of Baked Mac and Cheese and some cakes. I am trying to find a good recipe for some perfect ribs. I make my ribs like my Mom made them, but I want a them a little more tender...

I love to cook and I love to decorate. I am trying to get my guest bedroom out of the country phase and into the chabby chic that even my Uncle would feel comfortable staying in.

Any suggestions?

Whew the summer flew bye

Had a great family reunion in the Pocono Mountains. We went camping and had a blast. My aunt is the best funniest home video queen there is. I haven't seen my uncle move so much as he did when showing the video to everyone.

I feel like a kid getting ready to go back to school. I even went out school shopping for clothes and office supplies. Trust me, it never goes away. I think I will need to take a class or something to get this situation under control.

So the fall is around the corner and I have a lot of projects in store. Painting the house, finishing the bathroom remodel, re-doing the kitchen and my lanai. (fancy little name for a porch).

I think I will go bake a cake, I feel the domestic urge to do something...
