Almost 2009

May you have a great 2009 and your hearts fill will Peace and Joy. I am a pretty religious person, not that I am pretty, just that I am sort of Religious, and I am praying for all my friends and family to be healthy and happy this year coming.

As I close my eyes tonight before going to bed, I will pray for all to have a great 2009.

There are people in this world that do not believe in God, any God for that matter and for them, I feel sorry for them. If I didn't have a belief I don't know where or how I would have survived.

Whether you are Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Worship the Frisbee, or any other organized religion that gets a tax break, please add prayer to your life, you will be glad you did.

Whew Christmas is over... wait here comes New Years

We survived Christmas in fine fashion. I over-ate, felt sick and then suffered. On Christmas Eve I attended Midnight Mass at my church and it was really neat. I really enjoyed it. Christmas day was so special, I got caught up enjoying it so much, we forgot to open our presents to each other.

We had a nice dinner on Christmas day with his folks and then we relaxed and had a good time sitting around enjoying our night.

But here comes New Years. We are suppose to go to a party, but I am inclined to decline. I want to enjoy the New Year with a quiet night.

Today I went to the gym and they all fell over in shock. Haha ha I say to them. I am doing the right thing. I am working out where-ever I am and doing it for the good of my health.

Hope 2009 is everything you want it to be.

xoxo

Santa is on his way....

First let me start off by telling you to visit the most awesome blog on the planet. It's called The Pioneer Woman. The address is www.thepioneerwoman.com I tried to put it in my last post but it didn't show. I made her Prune cake and let me tell you, I have to make another. SERIOUSLY awesome.

Today consisted of continued shopping for the dinner party that is about to take place in 30 minutes. My guests have not arrived yet. They will trickle over in about 10 minutes. I have the dining area set up, the bar area set up, the dessert bar set up, the appetizer area set up and the gift/train area set up. Each of my guests will get something from Santa's early delivery. I even set up a smoking area at my neighbors house (haha I crack me up). Actually I detest smoke, but I am an accommodating hostess so I have a smoking area with two high-top tables and sand packs, ash-trays, breath mints and spray, with small little candles that are meant for Oder eating. I am so considerate.

Drinks are at 7:30 and dinner is at 8:00 the attire is formal pj's; just kidding but one year I would love that. The bus will pick us up at 10:00 for a 30 minute ride to see the lights and I will be off to Midnight Mass at the end.

** Many thanks to the mini staff that has been assisting me during this time**

Baking, Creating and Nibbling along the way...

Two magic days until Christmas. I am jammed packed with company and parties until the end of the year. So I have had to put the apron on and start getting creative.

Key Lime Squares are baking right now, the Oatmeal and Butterscotch cookies are cooling, the Ooey Gooey Pumpkin Cake is next in line. After that, the Olive Pinwheel Bread will be the final creation for tonight.

Tomorrow is a whole new ball game. I am making prune cake. I am serioulsy excited about this. Also, I am making mini shoofly pies for my recently widowed friend. He specifically asked for them. Then for the dinner party its the Prime Rib and Italian feast.

Whew I am tired. Buzzer is going off, time to go...

So not ready for Christmas

Today, I realized I am so not ready for Christmas. Last Friday I started a remodel on my main bathroom. Call me crazy, but I was tired of the drywall look that I had created after removing the ugliest wallpaper known to man. So we sanded and we sanded and I painted and I painted. By the way, I bought this awesome Ralph Lauren EXPENSIVE paint and the color was suppose to be light suede. Well not so much. It's much darker than I imagined. But I decided to go with it until after the holidays and I will do this all again then. I decorated my bathroom for the holidays with rich brown tones and snowmen. It looks really nice, but is it ever dark.

I keep reminding myself it will all be OK because I will be so busy I won't notice it. Or at least I keep telling myself that.

Off to bake 1000000 more cookies and cakes. Love the holidays and love to bake. Just wish I was with my family right now.

Merry early insane Christmas.

Shakin' and Bakin' for me today

Getting all my stuff together for my bake off and shaking the house up for the Christmas decorations. I usually have my tree up by now, but I have been down and blue. Can't seem to get in the mood. But today I will get the baking started and hopefully the spirit will come to life!

On tap to bake today: cookies and rice crispy treats for the little girl down the street.

Plus the other 700 dozen cookies for the gift baskets.

Wish me luck!

So much to do...It's time to bake the cookies

Christmas baking is one of my favorite things to do. This year I am making a few extra baking items to give away instead of the nondescript token gifts that I could buy.

On tap will be lemon bars, oooie gooie pumpkin cakes, pecan bites, sugar cookies, italian wedding cookies, and spritzs. I cannot forget my favorite chocolate dutch mint cookies either. Next I will start on the pies and cakes. But for now, it's cookie time...

What will 2009 bring?

I have so much going that needs some decisions made. However, I am not sure what I should do. So I will take the Bobby Kennedy approach and ignore it until the next wave..

It has been a very busy 45 days for me. Vacation, the Montazuma's Revenge (aka maybe serious viral infection) anxiety and discord with my career, and Thanksgiving in my favorite place on earth... PHILLY, opps I mean my second fave place. The shore is my favorite... Wow that was a mouthful, but it is very real and I am doing the best I can...

I have been cooking and trying a lot of recipes and trying to get myself into a habit of a new recipe a day. That is really challenging. Tomorrow I am making Rum Bundt Cake courtesy of www.thepioneerwoman.com her recipes are to die for.

So what will 2009 bring? I am hoping for a new career opportunity, a new home and maybe if I am good... a new wardrobe. Oh yeah it's life changing time.

Keep your fingers crossed 2009 is a great year.
